URGENT SAFETY RECALL-NOTICE
Product: Apex / Manik Power Supply Unit (PSU)
This is an official Safety Recall Notice. Apex Gaming PCs Inc (“Apex”) has determined that Apex and Manik branded power supply units lack a permanent, on-product warning label identifying potential electrical shock and electrocution hazards. Apex is offering a free safety remedy. To select your remedy please click here.
THE DANGER: RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY
The units lack a permanent on-product warning label identifying potential electrical shock and electrocution hazards. The internal components of this power supply carry high-voltage electrical charges that can remain active even after the unit is unplugged. Contact with internal components poses a risk of serious injury or death. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, ATTEMPT TO OPEN, DISASSEMBLE, OR SERVICE THE POWER SUPPLY UNIT.
IMPORTANT
The power supply units are not being recalled due to a performance defect. The recall addresses the absence of a permanent on-product warning label identifying potential electrical shock and electrocution hazards if the unit is opened or disassembled.
REQUIRED ACTION: INSTALLING THE WARNING LABEL
You should apply this label immediately. If you are uncomfortable applying the label, Apex will coordinate a replacement power supply unit with the warning label already applied. Please note that this option may result in 7-10 business days of PC downtime while the replacement is processed. Please follow these steps below exactly. Video instructions are available below or by clicking here. If you feel uncomfortable completing these steps, click here, complete the form, and mark that you prefer a replacement power supply unit. Apex will coordinate a replacement power supply unit with the appropriate label already applied.
- UNPLUG: Completely disconnect the power supply from the wall outlet and all connected devices.
- TURN OFF: Turn off the power supply by switching it into the “O” or off position.
- REMOVE: Remove the side/back panel of the gaming PC by loosening the two panel screws. To clarify, you are not opening the PSU itself but rather the PC enclosure only.
- LOCATE: Locate the power supply. It is white or black in color, measuring 6in x 3.5in x 9in (See photo below).
- CLEAN: Wipe the existing power supply label with a clean, dry towel. If dust remains, wipe with a damp cloth and let dry for 60 minutes.
- APPLY: Remove the backing on the provided label and affix it directly on top of the existing label. Ensure there is no overlap and the label sits perfectly over the original.
- PERMANENCE: Press down firmly for 30 seconds to ensure a permanent bond. Do not remove or obscure this label.
- COMPLETE FORM: To ensure that the label is applied correctly and that your warranty extension is provided, please click here to verify your label was installed.
COURTESY WARRANTY EXTENSION
To thank you for your cooperation, Apex Gaming PCs Inc is extending your manufacturer’s warranty by one full year, whether you choose the label or replacement option If your warranty has expired, your warranty will restart and continue for one year from the date you submit the recall form. The warranty extension is not part of the recall, and it does not affect your recall remedies.
